St. Patrick's Day 5-K Run

Seth and I signed up this year to run in a local St Patrick's Day 5-K run. It was so much fun! We dropped of the kids at my moms and headed off to the race where we got shirts and our race numbers. They even gave us shoe chips so that it would accurately give us our results at the end. Then the race started. It was hard but so much fun. Even though it was only 3.2 miles I am not used to running that hard and fast. But we did it and didn't even stop to walk once. Seth was so great to run with me the entire time and we even crossed the finish line together! At the end my mom and Kaylie brought the kids so they could be there with us!

At my parents home before the race!
It was such a beautiful day to run this morning. Colorado weather in March can be so unpredictable but it was 70 degrees and beautiful this morning. We loved the excitement and anticipation we had before the race and finishing with a decent time was awesome! We are even thinking about running the Boulder Boulder in May. I need to start training harder for that race but I I think that if you live in Colorado you should at least try to run it at least once. So wish us luck!
For our first 5-K- I think we did great!
It was so much fun to be able to do this together!

Way to Go! I am so proud of us!

My beautiful princess Ciara all ready to come and cheer us on!

So I Can Always Remeber

I just wanted to post a few pictures and thoughts so that I will always have them to remember my sweet grandma, Hazel Dawn Evans. Grandma's funeral was on February 23, 2009. It was a nice funeral remembering who my grandma was and all she did for all of us around her. It is because of her that I want to be a better wife and mother. It is hard to realize that Grandma and Grandpa are no longer living in their house in Parowan, no longer driving up to Little Creek to check on things, and there will be no one to give us a hard time about not visiting. But they are with Heavenly Father with those that they love and that is good.

Seth and I went to the temple a few days after getting back from Parowan. I had a good experience there at the temple. I was wearing a ring that was my Grandma's , one I am sure she wore, and so I was able to look down and see it and remember my grandparents while I was there. I felt their love while I was in the temple and especially the celestial room. While I was sitting, and listening, and thinking my thoughts turned to "I wonder what Grandma and Grandpa are doing right now? and in that instant I had an overwhelming feeling that they are happy. I clearly felt and sensed Grandpa there, literally dancing with Grandma, with all his personality letting me know that I need to strive to do all that I can to make it there someday.

This is a picture of the entire Evans family after the funeral. ( Sorry, but you can't make it bigger to see it better.)

This is my Grandma's testimony that was written in 1999 before her forgetfulness started.

A Testimony By Hazel Dawn Evans

"I am surely thankful for my children and for the love and concern they show us. I am so proud of them. I love my dear husband, Arthur B. "Cherry" Evans. "I want you to know that a personal testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important and greatest treasure you could have. "I hope and pray you will stay close to the church, I know that God lives, that he hears and answers our prayers. I am so grateful for the Gospel and the blessing we receive when we are faithful and do those things we know we should. Your happiness is my first concern and I am so thankful for the church and its teachings, for the help it gives me in guiding you and teaching correct principles. Always be humble and prayerful. You should be very proud of your pioneer heritage. You come from line of out standing people on both sides of our family. Men and women who gave up everything they had to come to America and accept the Gospel. I feel like it is a special blessing and privilege to be born into the church having Parents and Grand parents that are devoted Latter Day Saints and from them has come to us a heritage worth much more than earthly wealth. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator. That he restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Saints and to the World. It is great to see the Church grow so fast. We are thankful for our Grandchildren who have served in the missionary program. May we all stay faithful to the Gospel. I am very proud of you and I pray that the Lord will be with you and lead and guide you in the paths of righteousness.I love my Children, Grandchildren, and Great-grandchildren very much…you are my pride and life.

Happy 5th Birthday Ethan!

This week was spent celebrating Ethan turning 5 years old. Ethan's birthday was on Monday and I had the kitchen decorated with a birthday chair cover that I made, waffles, birthday decorations, and his presents at the table waiting for him. He opened one present while he ate breakfast. Then we were off to swimming lessons and then stayed at the indoor pool to play with Tytan, Tanner, Charles, and Michelle. After swimming we went to lunch at Chick-filet where the kids had a blast eating and playing.

Here is what Ethan saw when he went to Grandma's house. He thought that the big 5 balloon was awesome!

I sure do love this handsome boy!

That night we had a family birthday party at Amazing Jake's. It was great because there were only a few other families there. We had fun eating pizza, driving go-karts, riding amusement rides, and playing arcade games. Ethan was so excited it was his birthday!

Then on Saturday was his big Superman party. It ended up that we had 26 kids come to the party due to the fact that I was so busy I have very few pictures of the actual party. But we had it all decorated Superman style, we played three Superman games, had cupcakes, and opened presents. I think that it turned out well for a 5 year old party. Ethan has grown out of his shy stage and loved being the center of attention and impressed me with his kindness and outgoing personality. He got so many wonderful presents that we just loves and we had a great time celebrating with everyone that came!

Where has the past 5 years gone?

Today my baby turned 5 years old! I can not believe that the little baby that I used to hold is now a big 5 year old little boy. Ethan is a true joy in my life. I just love everything about him. He is so sweet, smart, caring, loving, sensitive, and the kindest big brother to Ciara. He is all boy and loves everything monster truck, cars, and sports. I am truly a lucky mom to have Ethan as my little boy.
