An Evening With The Prophet

Well sort of! Last night Seth and I were able to attend a concert where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang at Red Rocks, and it was AMAZING! It was such wonderful and uplifting music in such a beautiful place. It will be an evening I will never forget!

After the concert started they were making introductions and they announced that President Monson was there to watch the choirs last performance on their tour. And President Monson stood up and waved to everyone. We were up from him a ways but we were still able to see him and wave back! It made it extra special to know that we were there listening to the same thing as the Prophet.

I am just so thankful for the gospel and the church and for these opportunities when we are lifted up and and edified by the Spirit. It was a wonderful evening!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a great Father's Day Weekend! On Friday was my Dad's 55th birthday so to celebrate it along with Father's Day we decided to go camping! It turned out to be so much fun!

We packed up and headed out to beautiful Turquoise Lake in Leadville early Friday morning. Our car was packed to the max! It was a lot of work to pack for a camping trip I felt like I packed up my entire house!

Seth and Ethan did a little fishing as the rest of my family got there and got set up. We then had a birthday dinner and party for my dad. I came up with 55 words that describes my dad and then Casey and Brynn and I found items that represented the words that described him. For example- My dad protects our family so we got him sunblock, or my dad is powerful so we got him Powerade. It was fun to put together the basket for him. He is our Hero and so we got him superhero action figures!

Then Saturday was a little cool and drizzled all morning. We all tried to go fishing again and it seemed like everybody around us were catching fish but not us! We got nothing! Oh Well! Then it started raining and we packed up the entire campsite in the rain and headed home.

I then spent the evening emptying out coolers and washing smoke filled clothes and blankets. Even though we had a blast camping and the kids did great, I was glad to be showered and sleeping in my bed on Saturday night! I just think there are more camping trips in our future this summer!

Sunday was Father's Day and it was nice to celebrate the Dad's in my life. Poor Seth had to make his own Father's Day breakfast. I had bought all the things but we have early church so he cooked it while I got ready and then we all ate together! Seth is a great father to our kids, and they love being with him. He always makes it a point to spend lots of time with them, and Ethan and Seth are best buddies. I am grateful that I married someone who loves being a Dad!

My Dad is and always has been an amazing father and grandfather to me and my family. I feel so blessed to have a Dad that is truly a strength and an example to me in so many ways.

Ethan's Preschool Graduation

Ethan's 1st Day of Preschool

Ethan's Last day of Preschool

Look at how much older and grown-up he looks just 9 months later!

Ethan had his preschool graduation last week. It is bittersweet to see my oldest grow up! It makes me sad that I no longer have a son who is toddler but I have a little boy. I sometimes look at him and am shocked at what I see. This past year I have seen such a big change in Ethan he is no longer the shy, quiet little guy that he was. He now is a 5 year old who is beginning to read, becoming independent, takes care of his sister, and sings and talks in front of everyone at church. And he has grown out of an entire size of clothes. I am excited for kindergarten. I loved school when I was little, and spent all of college learning about teaching and so I am excited to see Ethan learn, grow, and develop socially and academically. Both Ethan and I will miss Mrs. Cathy and am so thankful for all that she did for Ethan.

Ciara waiting for the graduation to begin

Ethan really is a special child. Occasionally, he has his moment but they are very few and far between. He is so smart and can already read a level 1 kindergarten book with almost no help. He is so kind that he takes care of Ciara and has sooooo much patience with her. He knows the scripture stories as well as we do. He says the sweetest, most heart felt prayers. He just amazes me! Even when I am harder on him then I should be or when I have lost my patience with him it never changes the sweet spirit that he has.

Congratulations, Ethan! We Love You!
